Rick's Rap - February 2007
02/26/07
O.k., just a bit of catch up here.
- For the last couple of rehearsals, Bob & I have pretty much
just been amusing ourselves, as opposed to keeping our noses to
the grindstone and actually trying to make any definable
progress
- At the moment I'm working quite a bit with Special Blend
(see the links page)
- I've been going to the DC Blues Society blues jams at
Chick Hall's Surf Club on sunday afternoon's. Definitely tough
on the old ego.
- I got a case for my Martin, but the top (of the guitar, not
the case) has cracked. The 13th fret on my regular acoustic is
way too low, and buzz's too badly to be fixed by shimming the
saddle. Gotta find a luthier to fix both of these things before
either one is usable.
- Put a new set of strings on my old '63 Gibson. Sounds, feels
and plays great. Unfortunately it doesn't have a preamp, so it's
o.k. for practice, but not easily used in a performance
situation.
- Got a pedal board for the effects I use with my electric set
up. Works pretty well, but one of the right angle plugs is a
little funky, and I'm going to have to swap it out.
- ... sigh ...
Stay tuned,
Rick
